At Keep, your account security is our top priority. To provide the highest level of protection for your financial information, we have implemented a robust two-factor authentication (2FA) system.
Starting February 1, 2025, 2FA will become mandatory for all users. This security measure is part of our ongoing commitment to safeguarding your data against unauthorized access.
This article will help explain the reasons for the new 2FA requirement and guide you through the setup process.

What is Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)?
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is an additional security measure that requires you to verify your identity using two distinct factors:
- Something you know (e.g., your password)
- Something you have (e.g., a code sent to your mobile device)
This process ensures that only you can access your account, significantly reducing the risk of unauthorized access.
How Does Keep's 2FA Work?
- Log in with your credentials: Enter your usual login details.
- Verify your identity: A code will be sent to the mobile device linked to your Keep account. Enter this code to complete the login process.
Important Notes:
- Verification codes are valid for 5 minutes.
If your code expires, click “Resend Code” on the login screen to request a new one. Make sure your mobile device is connected and able to receive SMS messages. - Remember This Device:
Select “Remember this device for 30 days” during login to avoid being prompted for verification on that device for the next 30 days.
Refer to the image below for both options: the “Resend Code” and the “Remember this device” checkbox.
Is 2FA Mandatory for All Keep Users?
Yes. Starting February 1, 2025, 2FA will be mandatory for all Keep users. If not set up before this date, you will be prompted to enable it during your next login.
How to Set Up 2FA on Your Keep Account Before February 1, 2025:
To enable 2FA before it becomes mandatory, follow these seven steps:
- Go to app.trykeep.com and enter your existing login credentials
- On the left-hand side panel, click on Settings.
- In the Settings menu, choose Security.
- Click on Set Up 2FA.
- Choose between SMS or Email verification.
- Enter your phone number or confirm your email.
- Enter the 4-digit verification code sent to your chosen method.
- Once verified, click Continue to complete the setup.
- You can update this method anytime by returning to Settings > Security.
How to Set Up 2FA on Your Keep Account After February 1, 2025:
- New Users: During your first login, you'll be guided through the 2FA setup process.
- Existing Users: You will be prompted to set up 2FA upon your next login.
Protecting Your Verification Codes
To ensure the safety of your account, never share your verification codes with anyone. Keep's support team will never ask for your login verification code. If someone contacts you requesting this information, it could be a phishing attempt from someone pretending to be a Keep employee.
If you receive a request to share a Keep verification code, do not respond.
Troubleshooting Common 2FA Issues:
- I didn't receive the 2FA code: Ensure your mobile device has connectivity. If the problem persists, request a new code or contact Keep's customer support at support@keep.com.
- Lost device used for 2FA: Contact Keep's customer support immediately at support@keep.com to secure your account and update your 2FA settings.
Important Information for Google Users:
If you sign in with Google, please note that starting February 1, 2025, multi-factor authentication (2FA) will be required for your Keep account. Upon your next login, you will need to verify your identity using an SMS code sent to your registered phone number. Make sure your phone number is up to date to avoid any disruptions in accessing your account.
